App: Simple Background Remover (com.simchia.simplebackgroundremover)
Last updated: 20 September 2026

Simple Background Remover ("the app") edits your photos on your own device. This policy explains exactly what happens to them, and what the app does and does not send anywhere.

Your photos never leave your device

Background removal runs entirely on your phone. The photo you choose, the cut-out it produces, and anything you save are processed locally. The app does not upload your photos, does not send them to any server, and has no account to sign in to.

Photos you choose

You pick a photo through Android's own photo picker, which hands the app that one photo and nothing else — the app has no permission to browse your gallery. If you take a new photo instead, it is written to the app's private temporary storage and deleted when you start another photo or leave the editor.

The app keeps no library, no history and no copy of your originals. The photo you started from is never modified. What you export is written where you choose: the Pictures/Simple Background Remover album, or a folder you pick yourself in Android's file picker.

Camera

The app requests the camera permission only at the moment you tap Take Photo, and uses it only to take that photo. It is not used at any other time.

Sharing

When you tap Share, the app writes a copy of the finished image into its own temporary storage and hands it to Android's share sheet, so you can pick where it goes. What happens to it afterwards is governed by the app you chose, not by this app or this policy. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose it.

Google ML Kit, and the one thing that does use the network

Automatic background removal uses Google ML Kit, running on your device. Two models are involved:

That model download is why the app carries internet and network-state permissions. Your photos are not part of it. No image, and no part of an image, is ever transmitted: the models come to the photo, never the other way round.

As part of running these models, ML Kit sends Google technical information about the library itself — such as the app identifier, the ML Kit version, which APIs are used and how they perform, and basic device information. This is diagnostic and performance data about the software, not about you and not about your pictures. It is described in Google's ML Kit terms and is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

What the app itself collects

Nothing. The developer receives no data from this app whatsoever. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting added by the app. Your settings — export format, JPEG quality and default resolution — are stored only on your device.

Permissions

The app asks for no storage permission at all. Choosing and saving photos both go through Android's own pickers, which need none.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes
